UW vs. WWU: 11/3/00

The Huskies Beat WWU on Friday Night

The Huskies add another win to their 2000-2001-hockey season against Western Washington University on Friday night. One minute, thirteen seconds into the first period, the Huskies capitalized on a bad break by Western Washington. Matt Carlson intercepted the puck on the blue line, entered the zone, took a slap shot and put it into the upper left corner of the net. Western Washington tied it up with about two minutes left in the first period. The Huskies responded at the last second of the period when David Gasperino, from the left side of the ice, scored on a two-on-one break away, assisted by Brian Mead.

At the beginning of the second period, the score was 3-2 Huskies. Twenty-five seconds into the second period, Western Washington ties it up at 3-3 but once again, the Huskies respond with a give-and-go goal by Paul Margolis, putting them up once again. Seven goals were added to the scoreboard total from both teams, making the score tied 6-6 at the end of the second period.

In the third period, the Huskies score two goals thirty-four seconds apart to put the Huskies on top by two, ending the game with an 8-6 win against Western Washington. Clay Josephy scored one of the goals on a breakaway, giving the Huskies a 7-6 lead. Brett Lawrence got the final goal of the game on a rebound shot by Marty Boyd.
