UW vs UCLA - Home Games
January 6th and 7th, 2001

The University of Washington Huskies faced off against the visiting UCLA Bruins on Saturday and Sunday night. The Huskies were off to a good start on Saturday but lost in an overtime shootout with the Bruins. The Huskies were up 1-0 after the first period with a goal scored by Clay Josephy and assisted by Sam Kim. During the second period, the Huskies scored two more goals, each goal unassisted by Brett Lawrence and Matt Carlson. UCLA scored two goals in the second period still giving the lead to the Huskies at the end of the second period. During the third period, the Bruins managed to tie the game up with 3:52 left in the game that forced an overtime shootout where the Huskies unfortunately lost the game 6-4.

The Huskies were a different team Sunday night where they pounded the Bruins 7-1. The Huskies played a very physical game all three periods against the Bruins. The only goal the Huskies gave up was during the first period. By the end of that period, the Huskies were up 2-1, goals scored by Sam Kim and Brett Lawrence assisted by Clay Josephy, Matt Carlson, and Steve Hyun. The Huskies added three more goals during the second period including goals scored 41 seconds apart by David Gasperino and Clay Josephy. Rookie Matt Carlson had two goals and one assist for the night. Paul Margolis scored the unassisted final goal in the third period as the Huskies got their game back on Sunday night.
