University of Washington vs. University of Oregon

 

 


The well-known I-5 rivalry comes alive!
Announcing the I-5 Cup Championship pitting the University of Washington Huskies against Northwest collegiate hockey rival the University of Oregon Ducks. Pride will be at stake for the inaugural year and for years to come, as the Huskies and Ducks participate in a season long championship series. The I-5 is the interstate linking the Washington and Oregon campuses.

Steve Savage, Brian Smith and Mark Juhn with the I-5 CupThe series winner is determined in a best of 5 system with each team having two regularly scheduled home games. The fifth game, if necessary, will take place as a shoot-out after game four. The system is modeled after University of Southern California (USC) and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), who have their own best of five championships series known as the Crosstown Cup. The cup simply adds more significance and local pride to the normal regular season games.

Game 1: Nov 17 @ Washington - UW won 5-3
Game 2: Nov 18 @ Washington - UW won 4-1
Game 3: Feb 2 @ Oregon - UW won 8-6
Game 4
: Feb 3 @ Oregon - UW won 6-1
